I have much interest in Science. My interest falls into Mathematics, Physics, Biology and computer programing. I am especially interested in Theoretical Biology, Brain/Cognitive Science. The below is some work I did when I was an undergraduate or am doing in University of Tennessee, most of which is superficial.

Information analysis of bat calls March, 2002
Bat call count program (to count how many pulses produced by bats, Microsoft word format) October, 2001
Entropy and information in Ecology (information theory applied to ecology) April, 2001
Periodicity in extinction February, 2001
How the emigration critical value and initial conditions affect the dynamics? December, 2000
Is molecular evolution better explained by selective or neutral processes? Fall, 2000
An interesting experiment, a computer simulation Fall, 2000
Board game and intelligence: intelligence is the ability of searching possible pathways? October, 1999
Programmed Cell Death, or apoptosis, in plant cell (BS degree thesis, download here) April, 1999
Physical chemistry: Movement of Al2O3 particulate in water November, 1998
Chaos, complexity and complementation in Ecology September, 1998 - now
Cycle and chaos in biochemical reaction 1998
Computer for biology, a superficial survey December, 1997
How brain measures time? July, 1997

Before August, 2000, when I was in Peking University in China

If you want to know how naive I was, and how bad my English was, have a brief look at my so-called "research" done Before August, 2000, when I was in Peking University in China. Please don't stay long, you will puke. (I myself almost puke)

The work is done when I was an undergraduate in the dept of biochemistry and molecular biology in Peking University(or Beijing University). Sometimes I blush to read it again, it's too naive and superficial and the English is too bad. But at that time I thought I did a really marvelous job and even distributed dozens of hard copies to professors and classmates as the new year presents. They probably thought, "this is the worst present I have received this year."

That was not end. I even sent one of my manuscripts to Nature. I succeeded in having Nature reject it quickly. I revised it and sent it to Ecological Modelling, thank God, they don't reject it but ask me to make a major revise. Fortunately, I was too busy at that time and prevented such a bad paper published.

After August, 2000, at University of Tennessee, Knoxville

I don't do much work in this period. I am struggling in the flood of English. But I still think some interesting questions like "why I was naked in public in the dream?" or "why I am stupid at Evolution class". I even thought some basic physical concepts like "mass" and "force" are garbage and tried to build another theory without them! I was stopped by finals.

I also built a "small room" for scientific discussion in Yahoo. But it seems most messages were posted by myself.

Current work: complexity of two-linked populations

I am working on the dynamics of a model consisting two populations linked by migration. Quite different from a single population model, two-population model shows sensitivity to initial conditions and other much more complex behavior.

C source code

I like programming using C/C++. I was angry because somebody said I was a bad programmer, now I find I am really far from good. Sometimes I am curious, is C++ more difficult than physics?

Future

I plan to focus on neuroscience after I get Master's degree. The mystery of brain always attracts me. I want to explore this field with both theoretical and experimental methods. I have my advantage(^_^): I did a lot experiments in Peking University and a lot theoretical work in Univ of Tennessee.
